NORFOLK, Virginia, May 5 /Christian Newswire/ -- Breathe Again Magazine will host its 1st Annual "I Made It" Ceremony, Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 6:30PM at The Murray Center, 455 East Brambleton Avenue, Norfolk. Delegate Kenneth Alexander (D) 89th District, will serve as the keynote speaker.
The "I Made It" Ceremony was inspired by a 17 yr old that recently passed his GED test. After family members congratulated him he said, "It's not like we have a ceremony or anything, it doesn't really mean anything. No one really cares."
Breathe Again Magazine founder, Nicole Cleveland doesn't want anyone to feel their accomplishment means nothing. "Just like we expose the negative", says Cleveland “we must start celebrating the victories with these young adults – they are our future."
"As a community we must come together and celebrate them. We come together for gang awareness meetings and crime. But rarely do we come together when a life is turned around," says Cleveland.
This graduation ceremony will be complete with caps, gowns, graduation pictures and most importantly -- these young adults will be able to "walk" just like high school graduates & receive their diploma. This will be a day they will never forget.
Employers will be on site conducting interviews for the graduates and college recruiters will be present. "We want them to know that they too, have a future" says Cleveland.
Breathe Again Magazine is in need of sponsors to help celebrate these young adults. If your company is interested in sponsorship, contact Nicole Cleveland at 757-404-1582.
