SPRING HILL, Tenn., Jan. 16 /Christian Newswire/ -- When the Holy Spirit swept into Pensacola, Florida, worship leader Lindell Cooley had a front row seat from which to watch Him move. From its humble beginnings as the Brownsville Revival Assembly of God, the Pensacola Outpouring - as it came to be known - catalyzed millions of people to come together.
Today, Music Missions International (MMI) - using Cooley's music as a vehicle - hopes to recapture that same revival spirit in order to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through music, ministry, missions, and education.
Cooley is equally enthusiastic today about establishing a global community where people can re-connect through music to the indelible spirit of the Brownsville Revival. He wants to help Christians find a way to hold the revival experience in their hearts twenty-four hours a day, each and everyday. Cooley's faith in the power of worship through music, and his belief that it is possible to infuse the revival experience into everyday life, led him to create two new CDs: Encounter Worship volumes I and 2.
"At Brownsville, people flocked by the thousands to be a part of our life-changing movement of God," says Cooley, who has been the president of Music Missions International for ten years, and pastor of Grace Church in Nashville, Tennessee since 2004. "I want to revive that revival experience! By solidly establishing worship through music, I hope to help people live each day with the same enthusiasm that made Brownsville a thriving Kingdom of God."
Cooley's contribution to the Brownsville Revival was an exuberant musical program. Every night, thousands would lift their voices in song and worship to the Lord. Under Cooley's musical direction, revival service attendees were an integral part of an electrifying, music-led worship experience that was almost impossible to explain.
"I want to share all of these experiences, the sum total of my life with God, through the Encounter Worship CDs," says Cooley. "By re-connecting with past revival attendees through these CDs, and developing new bonds with audiences nationwide, I hope to firmly establish a global community of worshippers who revel in embracing God through music."
Cooley pastors his own church in Nashville, Tennessee, and travels abroad, performing his music for conferences. Cooley hopes to reach out and continually bless both a new generation and old revival fans through his new blog and online ministry, as well as via live worship experiences at his church.
"A major part of those famous revivals was music-led worship," says Cooley. "The music was a wakeup call to holiness for millions of people who came to revel in the expectation of Christ's imminent return. That same spirit and enthusiasm has been captured in all MMI's recordings, and it is our hope that it can in some way become part of every Christian's daily worship."
MMI is a not-for-profit ministry dedicated to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. Dozens of churches and missionaries have received free worship resources, instruments, bibles, sound systems, and financial assistance through MMI. Thousands of worship leaders have benefited from education and inspiration, and millions of people around the world have been ministered to by the worship recordings and ministry of MMI.
