WASHINGTON, Aug. 22 /Christian Newswire/ -- Chuck Colson, one of America’s most recognized Christian statesmen and founder of Prison Fellowship, will be the special guest on the nationally syndicated daily radio program “Jay Sekulow Live!” Wednesday, August 23rd, at 12:00 Noon EST. Colson will discuss the recent federal court ruling ordering the closure of Iowa’s Inner-Change Freedom Initiative (IFI) program, the successful faith-based mentorship and training program launched by Prison Fellowship in 1997.

On June 2nd a federal district court judge ruled that the IFI program in Iowa is unconstitutional because it violates the separation of church and state. Prison Fellowship and IFI are in the process of appeal the ruling, and have committed to taking their fight all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary.

“Chuck Colson has been at the forefront of faith-based prison reform for the last 30 years,” said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel with the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ). “He is also one of our nation’s most loved Christian statesmen. We are honored to welcome him as a guest on our program.”

“Jay Sekulow Live!,” which airs daily on radio stations coast to coast, tackles tough issues ranging from legal and legislative battles underway throughout America to topics dealing national security and religious freedoms. The program broadcasts live, Monday through Friday, at 12:00 Noon on more than 600 radio stations nationwide and is heard by over 1.5 million listeners daily.

About Chuck Colson

Chuck Colson served as special counsel to President Nixon and went to prison in 1975 for Watergate-related crimes. When Colson got out of prison, God radically redirected this former attorney’s career goals — leading him to go back to prison, this time to minister to the men and women behind bars. Established in 1976, Prison Fellowship has grown into the largest prison ministry in the world, partnering with thousands of churches and tens of thousands of volunteers.
