BERLIN, Germany, July 13, 2020 /Christian Newswire/ -- Leaders in over 75 nations joined unprecedented unity to launch the “GO Decade,” a commitment for 10 years to countdown to zero where everyone alive has heard the Gospel. “In over 50 years of ministry, I’ve never seen this level of collaboration for prayer, evangelism, disciple-making, and church planting,” said Steve Douglass, president of CRU on a recent videoconference. The GO Decade effort is being facilitated by Global Outreach Day, a network of churches, ministries, and organizations.

“I have this dream, but its more than a dream. The goal of the GO DECADE is to reach, in a collaborative effort, every person until 2030 with the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” said Werner Nachtigal, founder and president of the Global Outreach Day. “Over 57 million Christians are actively sharing their faith. The countdown to zero is a decade of prayer and evangelism, where every believer is a witness. In the next 10 years, we’re mobilizing the whole church for evangelism and connecting with prayer, disciple-making, and church planting. We’re standing together in unity to reach every person for Christ.”

GO Decade’s goal aligns with the vision set by Bishop Ephraim Tendero at the 2019 World Evangelical Alliance annual meeting in Indonesia. “In November, we launched a decade of disciple-making,” said Bishop Tendero. “This is a call for every Christian leader to model what it means to be engaged in disciple-making. Every national alliance worldwide is organizing a nationwide platform to mobilize and challenge churches to accomplish the great commandment to love God above all. We’re calling the church to work together for holistic disciple-making.”

In 2020, unprecedented prayer and fasting took place in different ministries such as Lou Engle’s “Jesus Fast,” a Global Outreach Day partner. “Over 79,000 Christians were engaged in prayer and fasting around the world during the ‘Jesus Fast,’” said Nachtigal. The videoconference included a diverse group of leaders among others such as Dick Eastman, Every Home for Christ; Mike Bickle of the International House of Prayer; Cindy Jacobs, Lou Engel, Dave Gibson, Executive Director of GO 2020 USA; Alton Garrison, co-chairman of the Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches of North America; Dr. Walter Kim of the National Evangelical Association; Dr. Ole-Magnus Olafsrud of the Lausanne Movement; Dr. David Stephans from the Church of God; and John Sorensen of the Evangelism Explosion.
