FRANKLIN, Tenn., Sept. 29, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- With faith-based films bringing in record numbers of sales at the box office, the fervor for this category of film is not showing signs of slowing down anytime soon. With more then one dozen films slated to be released through the 2015-2016 year through various studios, EchoLight Studios is on the forefront of that trend.
In a recent Lifeway survey, researchers discovered that more than half of Americans say they would like more movies with Christian values. "Faith-based movies are no longer a niche," said Scott McConnell, director of LifeWay Research. "It's smart economics—if you make a film that appeals to that audience, they will show up."
"EchoLight Studios has made it a priority to release films with not only a strong faith message but movies that fill a void in the current marketplace," said EchoLight President Jeff Sheets. "We are making films that the entire family can enjoy together."
EchoLight Studios has released films such as, "Seasons of Grey," starring Andrew Cheney ("Beyond The Mask"); "One Generation Away," a docudrama that explores American's religious liberties; "The Redemption of Henry Myers," starring Drew Waters ("The Hit List"); "Hoovey" starring Patrick Warburton ("Seinfield"), Cody Linley ("Hannah Montana") and Lauren Holly ("NCIS"); and "77 Chances," starring Cheney and Rachel Hendrix ("October Baby").
EchoLight is not slowing down anytime soon with production ramping up on "Experiencing God," the story of how Henry Blackaby's popular Bible study drastically changed the lives of Angola prison warden Burl Cain and the prisoners he served. Additionally, EchoLight is putting the finishing touches on the upcoming, highly anticipated 2016 release of "Vanished: Left Behind Next Generation," based on the popular novels by Tim LaHaye - starring Amber Montana ("Haunted Hathaways"), Dylan Sprayberry (MTV Teen Wolf), Mason Dye (MTV Teen Wold, Flowers In The Attic).
"Our goal is to not only produce and distribute films for like-minded audiences to enjoy, but also give those same audiences ways to reach out to their community and share the positive messages of hope, faith and redemption," said EchoLight Senior Director of Marketing, James Barnes.
