BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Sept. 4, 2012 /
Christian Newswire/ -- Tanya Shock and Roger Thomson, debut with a 24-page picture book that introduces young readers to Christian values.
Walking in Courage, illustrated by Frank Urbano, is released by faith based publisher Westbow Press, a division of Thomas Nelson. This delightful adventure follows Charlie, a mouse with a huge heart, who encounters a timid skunk and a misguided guinea pig. The three colorful characters are troubled by bullying and other issues commonly affecting school children. As they face their ordeals, they are taught virtues they later use to resolve their problems.
"Children are so easily influenced by everything they are exposed to," says Tanya Shock, wife and mother of four. "My coauthor and I decided to make a conscious effort to teach courage, forgiveness, and faith, to help them imagine themselves doing what is right."
About the Authors
Tanya Shock and Roger Thomson are currently active in the military. While on unit deployment in a KC-135 aircraft, the noise level required that they wear ear plugs. This story was developed during that ten-hour flight, as they passed a notebook back and forth. Their objective was to find a better way to encourage children. The authors are members of Covenant Christian Center International in Warren, Michigan. By teaching spiritual values in an entertaining way, the two hope to make a difference in the lives of children everywhere.
Walking in Courage is the first of many titles in the Virtue's Forest series, created by Shock and Thomson. For more information, visit:
