Christian Newswire/ -- Georgia Right to Life (GRTL) Co-Executive Director Genevieve Wilson today praised Governor Nathan Deal for signing SB 98 a law that prohibits using taxpayer funds to pay for abortion insurance coverage in Georgia.
"As a pro-life woman and mother, I am deeply grateful that Governor Deal signed this law," Wilson said. "Once again, he has demonstrated that he is solidly pro-life."
Governor Deal signed the Bill, SB98, earlier this morning.
The new law prevents public monies from being spent on abortion services in any of the insurance plans offered under Obamacare, or through state employee health plans.
It does have an exception to save the life of the mother. It is one of the strongest laws in the nation.
The law does not prevent anyone from accessing abortion services; it just means they can't use public funds to pay for abortion insurance coverage.
"I'm deeply grateful to Senator Judson Hill (R-Marietta) and Representative Darlene Taylor (R-Thomasville) for sponsoring this legislation," Wilson said.
Georgia is the 25th state to adopt a law stopping taxpayer funding of abortion through Obamacare.
"Georgia is solidly pro-life, and bringing a halt to publicly funding this horrific practice is long overdue," Wilson added.
