GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., July 26, 2021 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dr. Patricia Harris, president of Kuyper College, announced today that Butterball® Farms, Inc., and Lumbermen's Inc. are participating in Kuyper College's urban WorkPlace Partnership™ initiative, which will launch this fall.

"This initiative is the only one in Michigan where students can earn a degree and have a part-time entry-level position lined up to help pay tuition costs while gaining years of valuable work experience," said Dr. Harris. "In addition, a portion of the student's tax-free compensation will be used to pay down tuition, which when added to additional state and federal grants, can help students graduate with little to no debt."

Under the WorkPlace Partner initiative, class schedules are configured to allow students to work 20 hours each week. Presently the College is finalizing partnership agreements with other Grand Rapids businesses.

The Higher Learning Commission, the accrediting agency for Midwest colleges and universities, approved a second location for Kuyper, which will serve as the College's urban campus at the Center for Community Transformation in Grand Rapids, MI.
Kuyper's Business Leadership is the first Kuyper program to be offered at the new campus this fall. Others will follow. It will be taught by several faculty with over 100 years of combined marketplace experience, committed to helping students develop academically, vocationally, and spiritually.

Recently, Kuyper became the tenth college in the nation, and the only one in Michigan, to be recognized as a Work College by the U.S. Department of Education. The WorkPlace Partnership is one of two initiatives developed by Kuyper to function under that designation.
