MEDIA ADVISORY, June 22 /Christian Newswire/ -- As missionary-sending organization World Gospel Mission celebrates 100 years of taking the message of the gospel to the nations, the focus turns to supporting a new generation of workers--international missionaries. "Even as we celebrate what God has done through World Gospel Mission over the last 100 years, we can't for a moment take our eyes off of what lies ahead," said WGM President Hubert Harriman. "We must equip the men and women from our fields who have answered the call to missions."

Held at Indiana Wesleyan University on June 24-27, 2010, WGM's International Celebration of Missions will feature missionaries, international guests, and supporters, all gathering to celebrate global missions and be challenged to continue what was started 100 years ago. In 1910, two missionary couples began working as missionaries in China and their ministry continued until the 1940s. Representatives from China, who are the fruit of those early missionaries, will be present at the celebration, along with international guests from many other countries.

"I am extremely humbled by what God has done through World Gospel Mission," said Harriman. "Great challenges lie ahead for WGM and for all global missions. But we hope and pray God will continue to lead us, just as He did in 1910."

A strong focal point of the Celebration will be to raise funds to help international missionaries from Africa and Latin America who will be present at the event. During the breakout sessions on Friday afternoon, attendees will be able to meet them and hear about their ministries in church planting and college student outreach.

"We are excited to welcome more international missionaries into the WGM team, and we want to encourage our US-based supporters to be a part of their ministries," said Harriman. "They are being used by God in amazing ways."

The public is welcome to attend all services and breakout sessions. A schedule can be found on the WGM website. For more information about the event, call Todd Eckhardt at 765-671-7210.
