Finding the Perfect Match

ENUMCLAW, Wash., Sept. 17 /Christian Newswire/ -- If you Google the phrase "perfect match" a majority of the million and a half search results (literally) will lead to on-line dating services like eHarmony, as well as personality tests, articles and books on how to find that special someone. The popularity of finding love on the Internet has led to sites for specific groups including Christians, Catholics, those over 40 and men and women who prefer to be matched according to astrological sign. One ad promises six month free membership if you don't find love within six months of joining their service. In a country where 50% of marriages still end in divorce men and women of all ages want love, even if they must look for it in cyberspace. Sadly many of these relationships will end in heartbreak.

"Love is the hardest subject to learn when you have not been taught," says Bill Thompson, author of "First Choice, Only Choice: Relationships that Last Forever". As a Baby Boomer he found that most of his friends divorced and the majority of his kids' classmates were from broken or single-parent homes. According to Thompson, a background of divorce and failed relationships can create an emotional handicap. "You have not seen first hand how real love endures. Your experience has shown you that love fails and commitments are not strong bonds." The sadness of this reality prompted him to provide a foundation for those just beginning the quest for love. He calls his book "First Choice, Only Choice" a relational primer for teens and college-age singles. Opening with the account of the first husband and wife--Adam and Eve--Thompson illustrates God's design for life-long marriage. The book stresses the idea that God created us for relationships--that there is someone out there for each of us. So how can you prepare your heart for this person, recognize when you have found him, learn commitment and what it means to truly bond with someone for life? Bill Thompson hopes to show young people the way.

"My purpose is to make a difference in the lives of teens and young adults. I believe they are hungry for answers about how to form long-lasting happy relationships."
