BEDFORD, Texas, Sept. 2, 2022 /
Christian Newswire/ -- When the pandemic threatened to shut the doors of a 19-year-old afterschool Bible program serving grades 3-6 public school children, it took to the airwaves in the tradition of Sesame Street with shows that "reflect the character of Christ."
With its second season now airing on Pureflix, the KiDs Beach Club (KBC) TV series (
https://www.kidsbeachclub.org/global-media) is experiencing a "fishes and loaves-sized" surge in viewers. KBC's weekly TV show -- which follows the lives of a group of preteen students who navigate life, explore character lessons, and play memorable games -- airs in all 50 U.S. states and into 500 million homes globally via DIRECTV, DISH, Inspiration TV, Angel TV, and streaming platforms, like PureFlix and other outlets.
While the pandemic required many people, churches, and organizations to re-evaluate the way they operate, KiDs Beach Club (
https://www.kidsbeachclub.org/) and its church partners are "standing firm" in their conviction to bring the gospel to public schools. This fall, KBC returns to nearly half of its pre-COVID schools.
"The kids went through a whole phase of just everything was taken from them," said Tammy Terrell, KBC Club Relations Director. "We are excited for our church partners who are returning with renewed passion to share the gospel in their local schools," she said. Each year, KBC partners with local churches to lead clubs in public schools, where they share the gospel with children – many of whom have expressed faith in Jesus Christ.
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council who spoke at KBC's recent anniversary gala, said: "The success of KiDs Beach Club is essential to the future of our nation. Systematically, God is being removed from our country, and we have stigmatized God and Christianity in the minds of children because we have expelled Him from their schools, so now, God is bad," Perkins said.
Since its inception, more than 110,000 children have attended a Beach Club, with 70,800 Bibles distributed and 9,500 children pledging to follow Christ at local public schools. KiDs Beach Club recently celebrated the opening of its new building, where it is headquartered in Bedford, Texas.
At the 43rd Annual Telly Awards in May, an episode from season two of KiDs Beach Club TV was named the Silver Telly Winner for Religious/Spiritual Television and the Bronze Telly Winner in the Writing, Children, Not-for-Profit, and Education & Training television categories, competing alongside The Walt Disney Company and Sesame Workshop.
