GREEN BAY, Wisc., June 6, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity feature Austin-based songwriter Danny Schmidt's "Make Right The Time" as the Franciscanized World's June Song of the Month.

To "Make Right The Time" may be a particularly timely or timeless message for recent graduates, those growing in awareness of life's vocation (getting married, in the process of application for the postulancy, becoming a novice, making a first profession of vows) or anyone who may be in a concentrated rush and now may be inspired to "make right this time" of life.

Danny Schmidt, observed that "There's a Hebrew phrase "Tikun Olam" which means "to repair the world," which is said to be part of our purpose here on Earth, to try and fix the things that have gotten broken over time. That has always struck me as a succinct and beautiful way of expressing the idea of living with intention and purpose, and in service. And that was, in part, what inspired this song:

"The Earth's on a string of beads
Just one prayer on the rosary
A single voice, a single: "Please,
Make right the time"

Danny complimentary wisdom in this quote attributed to St. Francis of Assisi –"Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible."

Named to the Chicago Tribune's 50 Most Significant Songwriters in the Last 50 Years, Danny Schmidt has been rapidly ascending from underground cult hero to being widely recognized as an artist of generational significance. With lyrical depth drawing comparisons to Leonard Cohen and Townes Van Zandt. Danny is considered a preeminent writer, an artist whose earthy poetry manages to somehow conjure magic from the mundane, leading Sing Out Magazine to tag him "Perhaps the best new songwriter we've heard in the last 15 years."
