SOMERSET, N.J., June 23, 2015 /
Christian Newswire/ -- Today, Rev. Dr. DeForest B. Soaries, Jr., Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens (FBCLG) in Somerset, New Jersey, will launch the dfree® Financial Freedom Movement at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas. This will be the fourth city in Texas to join Soaries' 10-year campaign to challenge African Americans to pursue financial freedom with debt free living as the first step in the process. He has previously visited the Houston, Dallas and Austin metropolitan areas working with black churches that are using his strategy and dfree® curriculum.
dfree® is a transformational lifestyle movement that challenges the culture of consumer debt through values-based principles and practical approaches to financial management. This 12-step system empowers participants to change perspectives related to money, alter habits and behaviors, and adopt a solid approach to the basics of financial management. dfree® means freedom from debt, delinquencies and deficits and freedom to deposits, deeds and dividends. These dfree® principles and practices are contained in his books, "dfree®: Breaking Free from Financial Slavery (Zondervan)" and "dfree® Lifestyle: 12 Steps to Financial Freedom (UMI)." Dr. Soaries will kick-start the dfree® movement with a three-day revival to bring awareness of the importance surrounding debt in this country, share tactics and methods to help people start the process, and provide tools on how to attain financial freedom.
"Debt is slavery," stated Dr. Soaries, "but debt free living brings power. dfree® is not just a financial program, it is a strategy that helps people address the spiritual, psychological, and behavioral root causes of financial issues. We are thrilled to introduce the dfree® movement at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and within underserved communities within Texas."
While in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Soaries will also meet with Pastor Jubal Garcia and leaders of "Outcry in the Barrio," a global, faith-based organization that provides rehabilitation and recovery for those who have suffered from various forms of addiction. Garcia was recently featured in the mini-series project entitled, "The Comeback Series," which tells the story of people who overcame adversity and now work toward addressing challenging issues within low-income communities. Dr. Soaries and Pastor Garcia will discuss how dfree® may be a resource in his ministry and throughout hundreds of Spanish speaking neighborhoods and communities served by Outcry.
The dfree® launch begins tonight, June 23, 2015 to Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church located at 1001 North Walter Street, San Antonio, Texas. The admission is free and the public is encouraged to join. For more information, call the church office at 210-225-2452.
