NEW YORK, Nov. 23, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Center for Jewish-Christian Understanding and Cooperation (CJCUC) is proud to announce the opening of its Latin-American division. The former Chief Rabbi of Chile, Dr. Angel Kreiman-Brill, will be heading the office. "Rabbi Kreiman-Brill brings over 5 decades of Jewish-Christian relational experience to the table along with a network of Orthodox rabbis and Christian leaders that wish to advance cooperation between our two faith communities," said David Nekrutman, CJCUC's Executive Director.

Besides facilitating Latin American clergy missions to Israel to learn the fundamentals of Jewish-Christian relations and conducting bible sessions with Christians visiting CJCUC at its headquarters in Israel, Rabbi Kreiman-Brill has recently launched CJCUC en Español, an online Jewish-Christian relational resource to the Spanish speaking community. "It is a privilege to be part of history where the Orthodox Jewish movement is taking proactive step in engaging in meaningful dialogue with the Christian community worldwide," Rabbi Kreiman-Brill remarked. He added, "Both of our faith communities originate in God's election, are constituted by His covenant, and anticipate ultimate redemption. We must better understand each other so that we may even more firmly support each other."

Recently, Rabbi Kreiman-Brill was asked by the Redemptoris Mater Seminary of Galilee to give a series of lectures on Judaism that can be seen on CJCUC en Español. Nekrutman and Rabbi Kreiman-Brill were recently invited to tour Domus Galilaeae International Center near Tiberias to better learn about their activities and to explore how both institutions can work together in the field of Jewish-Christian relations.

Prior to his position with CJCUC, Rabbi Kreiman-Brill was a professor of Jewish Theology and Comparative Theology in the University of Chile, Jesuit University of Buenos Aires and Catholic University of Concepción. He was awarded the Human Rights Award of the Chilean National Commission of Human Rights along with President Aylwin of Chile and Senator Edward Kennedy as well as the Rene Cassin Prize of International B'nai Brith for outstanding work in the field of human rights.
