FT WAYNE, Ind., Aug. 5 /Christian Newswire/ -- On the fiftieth anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution, WinePress announces the release of "Our Walk with God" – a memoir by Tibor Bierbaum. A Hungarian immigrant faced with the challenge of a new country and a new language repays the gift of freedom by serving in the U S Army and later by training future leaders.
The tyranny of Communism propelled Tibor Bierbaum from his homeland to the United States in 1956. Soon his deep sense of gratitude to God and his adopted country translated into a lifetime of service. Joined in that two-fold service was Julia Anne Bierbaum who supported her husband in where ever he was called – from Colorado, to Germany, and finally to Indiana.
"Our Walk with God" relates the story of Major Bierbaum's always challenging and often dangerous career as a paratrooper and special services officer in the Army – a career defined by extended tours of duty in Germany, Korea, and Viet Nam and by eighteen individual honors including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for Valor. Wishing to continue his life of service upon his retirement from the Army, he tackled a new career in secondary education and found fulfillment in training the next generation of America's leaders. Included in the book are several responses of Major Bierbaum upon receiving honors from the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge.
Snapshots of the unsettled life of a military spouse are included by Tibor Bierbaum's beloved wife, Julia Anne. Always searching for ways to support her husband and his demanding career, Julia Anne thrived and at times even played a key role in training exercises for military personnel.
This memoir is a story of many things: an escape from tyranny, dedicated patriotism to an adopted homeland, a detailed record of military heroism, a guideline for teaching leadership to adolescents, and lessons on grief and surviving the loss of a loved one. Above all that, however, it is a love story. Tibor and Julia Anne were committed to each other, to their country, and to the Lord.
