WASHINGTON, June 29 /Christian Newswire/ -- The abortion debate on college campuses is about to receive new life through a series of historic, pro-life recruitment program planned for this fall.

Students for Life of America is launching an unprecedented pro-life field program aimed at college students during the next academic year. SFLA plans to start 100 campus pro-life groups in the coming semesters, which will bring the national total of college pro-life groups to 300.

“This is a major development within the pro-life movement,” said Danielle Huntley student President of Students for Life of America. “This is the first time that a pro-life group will focus all of its energies on mobilizing the college pro-life grassroots.”

As the only national pro-life organization that focuses solely on college students, SFLA is recruiting five full-time field representatives per semester to help empower and organize fellow pro-life students.

The student groups will be an effective force on the front lines to combat the pro-death voices on America’s college campuses. These dedicated field representatives will identify and train the next generation of pro-life activists.

According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, 56% of women who have abortions are in their 20s. Abortion is often the only option talked about or offered to female students at college health clinics.

“We are extremely excited to bring our resources to students across the country,” said Huntley. “Students light up when we give them the tools to create and sustain effective pro-life groups on their campuses.”

There are 3500 colleges and universities nation-wide and there are currently 200 pro-life groups.
