ENUMCLAW, Wash., Aug. 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- A group of rabbis is vying to reinstate the custom of animal sacrifices, absent from Jewish practice for almost two thousand years reports the Associated Press. Many see this as extremely radical, considering that traditional blood sacrifices of sheep and goats were banned from Jewish observations following the destruction of the second temple in A.D. 70.
Historically these sacrifices primarily took place on the Temple Mount, where the current Muslim mosque, Al-Aqsa, stands in East Jerusalem. This particular geographic location has been a territorial hotbed for hundreds of years. It's also the focal point for a number of eschatological prophecies concerning the second coming of Christ and the rise to power of the Anti-Christ.
Author Ray Ruppert addresses some of these prophetic issues in his up-coming novel, "The Sovereign Reigns, Or Does He?" Rather than focus on the return of Christ, Ruppert targets the thousand years following, otherwise known as the millennium.
"This book is about freedom and truth - two ideals that humanity has sought since the beginning of time. I want readers to look into the future to see what life might be like during the millennial reign of Christ and to discover how people could be deceived while He reigns on Earth."
Ruppert creates a utopian setting for his novel, complete with flourishing technology, well-balanced environment, and disease-free inhabitants. "It's a veritable Garden of Eden, complete with a lurking presence of Satan, otherwise known as The Chancellor."
Biblical prophecies about the millennium tend to be vague, says Ruppert. "I want to present a unique view of that future age and demonstrate how some of those prophecies could become a reality."
A software developer, Ray and his wife Terri are members of the Leight Fantastics, an amateur performing dance group specializing in tap and jazz. The Rupperts attend Canyon Hills Community Church, in Bothell, Washington.
