LOS ANGELES, April 22, 2014 /
Christian Newswire/ -- The return of Choir Movement touches down today with highly anticipated release of Deitrick Haddon's LXW first, full-length album. This an amazing project has brought together 100 voices of multi-talented young people in the LA area. The critically praised debut album features a list of 'Who's Who' in the current choir music sub-genre including Hezekiah Walker, Donald Lawrence, Ricky Dillard as well as a new generation of Gospel superstars (Jessica Reedy). By creating music for youth choirs, LXW is "resurrecting the youth choir movement." This project truly offers music that choirs across the country can sink their teeth into and actually sing. It also opens the opportunities for choirs to showcase the hard-to-duplicate vocal calisthenics that crowds for centuries have come to love. Sopranos, altos, tenors can shine separately and together on each track.
LXW wowed audiences just last month, as the opener of the "Celebration of Gospel" on BET. They were listed in the show's highlights and talked about for days after the Celebration of Gospel aired. On Good Friday, audience's souls were refueled with the national broadcast premiere of their full concert DVD on Oxygen. After viewing it, people were left asking why anyone else hadn't thought of this sooner. Choirs around the world have been provided with new songs to sing during their church services, with this amazing project.
Deitrick Haddon remembers a time when choirs had a stronger presence in the African-American church. "Every fifth Sunday," he says, "was youth Sunday. Young people had a platform, and they had music that was made specifically for them. I want to bring that back."
He has done just that with the album being released today, April 22. With songs like "Great God" listeners cannot go wrong. "Great God" is about the awesomeness of God, and how He is able to do anything. The well balanced project features a good amount of high-energy songs like "He Keeps on Blessing Me" (which features Donald Lawrence) and "God Stepped In" (led by Ricky Dillard) as well as moving ballads that showcase those unique power notes that only choirs can deliver like "Tis So Sweet." Haddon includes a couple of spoken word pieces like "Xtraordinary" and "Sweet."
