WASHINGTON, Oct. 6 /Christian Newswire/ -- Today, the Susan B. Anthony List announced its endorsement of Beth Anne Rankin, candidate for U.S. House of Representatives in Arkansas' Fourth District.
"Where Mike Ross has been an unreliable vote on the Life issue, Beth Anne Rankin is clearly eager to fight to protect Life on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives," said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. "Her commitment to rescind taxpayer funding of abortion in health care and in all federal spending is urgently needed in the coming Congress."
Beth Anne Rankin served as Miss Arkansas in 1994 and began working for Governor Mike Huckabee two years later. She founded Beth Anne Productions, Inc. in 1998 and began a full-time commitment to her music, teaching and speaking in 2004. Rankin's campaign repeatedly cites her history as a "life-long pro-life advocate" and her commitment to "continue to advocate for women and the unborn."
Dannenfelser places her among those authentic pro-life women leaders she sees winning elections across the country. "A new women's movement which affirms its original pro-life roots is making its way to the House of Representatives, and Beth Anne Rankin is one of its most vocal advocates," Dannenfelser said. "Arkansas and all American women deserve the pro-life feminine leadership Beth Anne Rankin so enthusiastically offers."
Rankin has been endorsed by the Arkansas Right to Life, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Maggie's List and the Concerned Women PAC. She will face Democrat incumbent Mike Ross in the November general election. Ross maintains a 50 percent rating with the National Right to Life Committee because of his vote for the Foreign Relations Authorization Act which would federally fund abortions overseas, his vote against denying funds to Planned Parenthood, his vote against preserving the Mexico City Policy which would prevent abortion funding overseas and his vote for the Stem-Cell Research Enhancement Act.
The Susan B. Anthony List plans to spend $6 million on voter education in the midterm elections, including $3 million on key Senate races. The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of over 280,000 Americans, residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
