DES MOINES, Iowa, Nov. 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- This event is to honor our veterans, thank families with active duty soldiers and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Iowa veterans will share World War II stories that younger generations need to hear from those who lived it.

Two special awards will be presented:

Edward "Dale" Pyle of Maxwell, Iowa, will receive the first award, the Glenn McDole Memorial Frontline Award for selfless service and sacrifice in support of our national sovereignty.  This award is named for World War II veteran Glenn McDole of Ankeny, Iowa, who passed away in September, 2009.  Mr. McDole was a Marine sergeant who spent two-and-a-half years as a prisoner of war. 

Tamara Scott, State Director for Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Iowa, says, "Glenn McDole was a kind and quiet man to those of us who knew him back home in Iowa, but he was a man of valor who exhibited great emotional strength and physically endured great torment in his love of our country and his undying devotion to protect her.  Mr. Pyle is very deserving of this award, as he was in the first raid into the Dachau Concentration Camp.  His personal photos are quite chilling and tell of his bravery.  It is a horrific history that we must never forget, lest we allow it to happen again."

State Representative Dwayne Alons of Hull, Iowa, for his diligence and commitment to family issues at the State House, will receive the Mary Jo Hoffman Memorial Homefront Award.  This award is given in recognition of courageous leadership and advocacy in support of family, life, and liberty, and is named for Mary Jo Hoffman of Sioux City who passed away July 31, 2009.  Mary Jo and her family stood for freedoms, protected our values, and fought to maintain our liberties right here on the home front.  CWA President Wendy Wright will fly in from Washington, D.C., to present this special award on behalf of Brent Hoffman and his family.
