ATLANTA, Oct. 30 /Christian Newswire/ -- Gospel Music Channel (GMC), will annually honor the most-popular music videos of the year across all genres of gospel and Christian music, it was announced today by GMC founder and president Charles Humbard. The Gospel Music Channel Video Awards, or GMCVAs, will honor the top videos in six genre categories: Rock, Country, Soul, Hip Hop, Contemporary and Latino, as well as the overall Top Video of the Year. GMCVA winners will be determined by viewers and fans through online voting at www.gospelmusicchannel.com, where voters will choose from six nominees in each category, three in the Latin group, that were determined by the amount of airplay the videos received on Gospel Music Channel during 2007. Voting begins today and continues through Sunday, Dec. 2.
Among the 33 inaugural GMCVAs nominations are videos by Rodney Atkins, Johnny Cash, Da T.R.U.T.H. feat. Tye Tribbett, Fred Hammond, Jars of Clay, Danielle Peck, Mary Mary, Martina McBride, Shirley Murdock, Krystal Meyers, Chris Tomlin, Rascal Flatts, Relient K, Robert Randolph, Skillet, Michael W. Smith, Switchfoot and Melvin Williams, (Complete Nominee List Attached.)
The first-ever Gospel Music Channel Video Awards winners will be announced on-air in a special Hot List: Viewers' Choice 2007 on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 7:00 p.m. (ET). "We believe the GMCVAs will become a much-anticipated annual event, with enthusiastic participation by artists and viewers alike," commented Humbard.
