SANTA CLARITA, Calif., Oct. 3, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Street preacher and evangelist, Tony Miano (recently arrested on a high street in Wimbledon, UK, while preaching the gospel), has written a book that addresses a woman's role in the Church and when engaged in public evangelism. Miano's thesis puts forth the argument that God's created order, God's determined role for women in the Body of Christ (not simply the Sunday morning church service), and God's beautifully designed, gentle and quiet spirit for women prohibits women from preaching the Word of God and His gospel in the pulpit and on the streets.

"Should She Preach? - Biblical Evangelism for Women" (One Million Tracts, 2013) addresses the topic of women preachers from two different perspectives. The first half of the book is written from the perspective of a street preacher. The second half of the book is written from the perspective of a pastor. In the second half of the book, Miano includes interviews with seven pastors, including Phil Johnson (executive director of John MacArthur's radio ministry, Grace to You), Pastor Steve Lawson (well-known and highly respected Bible expositor and conference speaker), and Pastor Steve Camp (best known for his legendary career as a Christian recording artist).

According to the author, "For many years I held the position that while a woman shouldn't preach in the pulpit or serve as a pastor or elder in a church, it was appropriate for a Christian woman to preach the gospel on the streets, in the open-air. However, an in-depth, biblical study of the subject led me to the conclusion that I was wrong. 'Should She Preach?' is a two-pronged apology. The book is an apologetic--a defense of the position that Christian women should not preach in the pulpit or on the streets. It is also an apology to the hundreds of Christian women I have personally trained and/or encouraged over the better part of a decade to stand on soap boxes, park benches, and sidewalks and preach the gospel. I unintentionally encouraged many of my sisters in Christ to do that which God never intended them to do--act like men, sound like men, and look like men in their evangelism efforts. I do want to encourage Christian women to fulfill the Great Commission, but I want to encourage them to do it biblically."

"Should She Preach? - Biblical Evangelism for Women" is available on Kindle, through Amazon.com, and is available in paperback at One Million Tracts.
