ENUMCLAW, Wash., April 19 /Christian Newswire/ -- Author Brad Inman became a Christian as a teenager, but it took several decades for him to surrender his life to Jesus Christ and find true freedom in the process.
Following high school, Inman drifted spiritually for thirty years. From a worldly perspective, he was a success: college graduate with an advanced degree, U.S. Naval aviator, an accomplished sales manager with a major computer corporation and an internet software company, a husband and father. However, Inman says,
"There was anger and frustration just below the surface, and pride was a big part of my life. There was also a part of me that was empty (my spirit had atrophied). I didn't realize that my spirit was comatose because I was away from the True Vine--Jesus. I was frustrated . . . I was very impatient. I was short-tempered with my family."
After the death of his father, Inman's veneer of success crumbled. It was during this time he began to hear God calling him to relinquish control of his life so he could become the man God Created him to be.
Inman's new book, The Second Most Important Prayer (WinePress 2010), discusses the importance of surrendering to Jesus Christ as the way to true freedom and the abundant life Jesus promises. Inman defines the second most important prayer as such:
"It's a prayer of surrender: Lord Jesus, please take control of my life and make me the person you want me to be. Surrender begins with the knowledge that without Christ, you can do nothing. The closer you get to God, the more you realize how broken you really are, and how much you need Jesus in every detail of your life. You become very willing to humble yourself before God and fervently pray that He will show you how to glorify Him in everything you do."
Brad has a Master's Degree from the University of Denver, is retired from Sony Electronics, and is also a retired U.S. Naval Reserve Captain. Inman's hobbies include photography and hiking. Over the years, he worked in the church as a lay preacher, an elder, and volunteered with the Men's Leadership Team Jail Ministry. The Inmans live in California.
