SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 10 /Christian Newswire/ -- To jumpstart screenwriting careers, Advent Film Group (AFG) will give top treatment authors competing at the 2007 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival (SAICFF) the opportunity to have their treatment developed into an AFG feature film production in 2008. SAICFF's fourth annual festival runs from October 25-27 at the Gonzales Convention Center. Its companion Christian Film Academy begins earlier on October 22-24 at the Marriott Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas.

Ex-Discovery executive and AFI producing fellow, George Escobar launched AFG to train students who will one day direct big-budget films with moral integrity.

"We strongly endorse SAICFF's storytelling approach," Escobar explains. "By offering to develop an award-winning SAICFF treatment from page-to-script-to-screen, we can strengthen AFG's film program beyond the production techniques we taught to over 30 students during our first feature film, "Come What May," now in post-production. By working with new authors, we hope to launch their careers as screenwriters."

Advent's goal of rebuilding culture for Christ using an army of homeschoolers has energized the Christian community. The company is reviewing offers of distribution, investments, and is presenting AFG's unique film perspective to businesses and groups, most recently to Christians at AOL's headquarters in VA. AFG has been invited to bring its new Cinema Workshop to various homeschool state conferences in 2008. The two-part workshop covers: a) The Failure of Christians in Cinema and How to Fix It; b) Training the Next Generation of Christian Directors.

Homeschooling students and parents, dismayed by Hollywood's usurping "faith-based" and "family-friendly" movies to make audiences "feel good" while rejecting Biblical foundations, have responded powerfully to the opportunity of joining AFG's productions as donors and volunteers.
