NORCROSS, Ga., May 13, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Georgia Right to Life (GRTL) today praised the first degree murder conviction of Philadelphia abortion practitioner Dr. Kermit Gosnell for killing three babies born alive following failed abortions.
"This shocking case has opened the eyes of the nation to the darkest part of the abortion industry that its proponents want kept secret," said GRTL President Dan Becker.
"All abortion is abhorrent, but what happened in this 'House of Horrors' was so depraved it defies all human decency," Becker added. "And I'm convinced that after birth abortions are more common than people want to believe."
Becker said, "It's heartbreaking that human life is determined by a matter of inches. Whether the child resides inside or outside of the womb should not be the standard that determines whether a child lives or dies. All innocent human life is precious and deserves our protection.
"Make no mistake, abortion is a painful, brutal procedure that literally tears a child apart and needs to end."
Becker added the case "should prompt Georgia officials to begin an immediate and thorough investigation of every abortion facility in the state. And if any are found to be in violation of the law or any regulations they should have their license revoked, be required to reimburse the state for any public funds received and their operators persecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
Many abortion facilities in Georgia are licensed as ambulatory surgical centers and are subject to regulation. The others claim to be doctors' offices which do not need a license to provide abortion services.
GEORGIA RIGHT TO LIFE promotes respect and effective legal protection for all innocent life from earliest biological beginning through natural death. GRTL is one of a number of organizations that have adopted Personhood as the most effective legal pro-life strategy for the 21st century.
