ROCHESTER, Minn., May 27, 2020 /Christian Newswire/ -- Worship Times today announced a partnership with the Presbyterian Church Camp and Conference Association (PCCCA) to bring summer camps across the country online and into your home with a Virtual Camp Portal. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, many camps and conference centers will be closed for the summer season. While quarantine may prevent overnight and in-person camps from functioning as they normally would, there is a way to bring the summer camp experience home.
"This is a challenging time, so we are excited to offer camps the Virtual Camp Portal for their summer programs. It gives them the ability to customize their own space on the website and to create programs for their campers. The camp can share their own videos or PDFs or choose something from the shared content library. We think this is a great way for these ministries to reach campers and their families this summer." – Joel Winchip, Executive Director PCCCA
The portal brings a secure environment for content to be hosted, and for campers to interact. After sign up, a facility can customize the look and feel of their portal, choose a subdomain, and create summer programs. Programs can be anywhere from day camps, to week-long, to multi-week endeavors. Content can be live-streamed or pre-recorded videos, downloadable projects or pdfs, and can cover a variety of topics. Check out this example of a summer program set up for Camp Fun.
The summer camp season is a vital source of income for many camps and conference centers. The Camp Portal brings an opportunity for facilities to retain some income, while meeting the needs of campers.
"We know how important the summer camp season is for many smaller camps and conference centers, and just how meaningful the camp experience can be for kids, so we wanted to help create a way for summer camp to still happen during quarantine." – Michael Gyura, founder of Worship Times
Do not feel limited by the words 'summer camp' or 'Presbyterian.' The portal can be used by anyone in need of a secure site for summer programming. Are you looking for ways to bring Vacation Bible School, Retreats, or Mission trips to your congregation? Do you run summer programs for scout groups, neighborhood parks, or community groups? The Camp Portal can work for you, too!
"Ten denominations have endorsed the Virtual Camp Portal for their camps. I am truly impressed by the ecumenical collaboration that is happening during this critical time in the history of our camps." – Joel Winchip, Executive Director PCCCA
