NASHVILLE, Aug. 30, 2019 /
Christian Newswire/ -- Nashville recording artist Johnny Jolin is releasing his latest original single "Hard to be Good" on August 30th. Jolin, referred to by Hank Williams III as "the Eddie Van Halen of country music," is best known for his 2011 top-ten Christian Country single, "Thank God," along with being the lead singer for the critically acclaimed Johnny Jolin Band and The Front Porch Country Band.
This latest single, written in 2 hours, is a nod to the Apostle Paul's observation in the New Testament of humanity's routine struggle to be "good" but inevitably falling short.
After quickly hammering out the lyrics and melody with longtime collaborator Andrew Scott Wills (whose songs have been recorded by Jerrod Niemann, Stephanie Quayle, and Andy Griggs), Jolin immediately headed to the studio with producer Dave Smith (guitarist for Toby Keith), who was able to capture the heart of Johnny's signature country rock style.
"The idea hit me, and I texted it to Andy, who liked it instantly. I think everyone can relate to the idea that we're all human and we all struggle. Nobody's perfect. I just wanted people to know that they're not alone in their fight to stay on the straight and narrow," says Jolin, whose influences range from KISS and Van Halen to Ronnie Milsap and the Gatlin Brothers.
Johnny, a native Pennsylvanian and US Army veteran, began his career by winning a talent competition during his time in the service but has since graced many a well-known stage, opening for acts like Randy Travis, Steve Wariner, Confederate Railroad, and other Nashville Who's-Who.
"It's Hard to be Good" can be found at AppleMusic, Spotify, Prime Music and other digital outlets. The single is also Siri and Shazam compatible.
