CHARLESTON, Sc., May 11 /Christian Newswire/ -- Water Missions International (WMI) has been named one of the "Top 10 Charities Expanding in a Hurry" and one of the "Top 10 Highly Rated Charities Relying on Private Contributions" by Charity Navigator, America's premier independent charity evaluator.
WMI ranked sixth on the "Top 10 Charities Expanding in a Hurry" list for its exponential growth of primary sources of revenue. All ten charities named to the Top 10 list show growth of more than 35% each year. WMI has expanded its programs and services by more than 35% over a three-year period with an 89.6% overall growth rate. Charity Navigator reports, "Expect to hear about these ten charities long into the future. They are growing dramatically."
WMI ranked tenth on the Top 10 list for "Highly Rated Charities Relying on Private Contributions." Charity Navigator reports, "Most charities derive large chunks of revenue from earned income, membership fees, and government contracts and grants. Ranked by overall score, these 10 excellent charities draw revenue solely from direct and indirect public support. They report no government funding, no membership fees, and no revenue from earned income. As a result, more than 95% of their total revenue comes from private contributions, which makes the efficiency of their fundraising operations all the more impressive."
In January, WMI was granted a 4-star rating for sound fiscal management by Charity Navigator. The 4-star rating was earned for WMI's ability to efficiently manage and grow its finances. Less than a quarter of the charities evaluated receive the 4-star rating, which is the highest rating offered by Charity Navigator, indicating that Water Missions International outperforms the majority of nonprofits in America with respect to fiscal responsibility. Charity Navigator is a non-profit organization that works to advance a more efficient and responsive philanthropic marketplace by evaluating the financial health of America's largest charities.
