Spiritual Truths to Remember
NEWS PROVIDED BY Evangelical Outreach Feb. 20, 2024
WASHINGTON, Penn., Feb. 20, 2024 /Christian Newswire/ -- The following is submitted by Dan Corner of Evangelical Outreach:
- Forgive others or you will not be forgiven:
For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. (Mat 6:14,15)
- The lying devil can perform miracles and visions:
They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs... (Rev 16:14)
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. (2 Cor 11:14)
- The devil is not in hell now:
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (1 Pet 5:8)
- If you are a Christian, do not fear death OR those who kill you:
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. (Phil 1:21)
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Mat 10:28)
- Do not worry about tomorrow:
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Mat 6:34)
...Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)
- You are not alone with your sufferings:
...your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. (1 Pet 5:9)
- Live with eternity in mind - realizing that everything visible is temporary:
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Cor 4:17,18)
- Sin is still the issue:
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. (1 Cor. 6:9-11)
- Your soul is your most valuable possession:
What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? (Mark 8:36,37)
- Paradise can be yours, and God wants you there:
...To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. (Rev 2:7)
- Loving Jesus first is a salvation issue:
Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. (Mat 10:37,38)
Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. (Rev 2:4)
If anyone does not love the Lord, let that person be cursed! (1 Cor. 16:22)
- God loves even the lost:
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
Jesus looked at him and loved him... (Mark 10:21)
- Most will go to hell:
Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. (Mt. 7:13,14)
- Make an all-out effort to enter heaven:
Someone asked him, "Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?" He said to them, "Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to." (Luke 13:23,24)
- There is both initial salvation (getting "born again") and final salvation (enduring to the end):
You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' (John 3:7)
...he who stands firm to the end will be saved. (Mat 10:22)
- Prepare spiritually to meet God:
...prepare to meet your God... (Amos 4:12)
Just as man is appointed to die once, and after that to face judgment (Heb 9:27)
- God wants the backslider back:
Therefore tell the people: This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Return to me,' declares the LORD Almighty, 'and I will return to you,' says the LORD Almighty. (Zec 1:3)
For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate. (Luke 15:24)
