WASHINGTON, October 14 /Christian Newswire/ -- Don Feder, the editor of AIM's new Boycott The New York Times website (boycottnyt.com), charges that The New York Times is doing everything it can to downplay Barack Obama's personal and professional relationship with '60's radical William Ayers.

"The Times is once again running interference for the Obama campaign, by trying to portray his association with an unrepentant terrorist as casual and entirely innocent. It's neither," writes Feder in an article posted October 10 at BoycottNYT.com.

Feder adds that an October 10 Times story actually tried to legitimize the Weather Underground Organization that Ayers led, by reporting that their bombings "were meant to damage property only." The Weathermen carried out more than 30 high-profile bombings, one of which killed a young San Francisco police officer and injured several others.

On October 12, Times columnist Frank Rich implied that by highlighting the Obama/Ayers connection, the McCain campaign is inciting its supporters to violence. Feder responded to this in a commentary posted today at BoycottNYT.com.

Ayers declared in a September 11, 2001 article, "I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough."

Ayers chose Obama as the first chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a group he founded to "teach against oppression." He served with Obama on the Woods Fund of Chicago, which funded a number of radical causes. Ayers also hosted a fundraising event at his Chicago home for Obama in 1995, where Obama launched his campaign for the state senate.
