MARIETTA, Feb. 23 /Christian Newswire/ -- Beginning next week, from March 1st through March 21st, the international prayer coalition, Pray for France (www.PrayforFrance.org), is inviting Christians from around the world to intercede for France.
"I have been amazed at the increased openness in France to Jesus in just the past year," said David Broussard, president of the Christian Community Foundation of France, one of the coalition partners.
"This is the fruit of passionate prayer and we are encouraged to continue the momentum through this year's prayer campaign.

This move has brought a blessing to the nation of France and Sarkozy's presidency is one that, while controversial, has moved spiritual mountains and shaken up the status quo."
France is one of the most strategic countries in the world to spread the Gospel. Geographically, politically, and socially the center of Europe, France has one of the lowest percentage of Evangelical Christians in all of Europe (.8%) and is over 30% atheist.
During this year's prayer campaign, France's Christian population - and the international community that is coming alongside them in prayer - is being challenged to engage in more public displays of faith through prayer gatherings and events. The theme for 2009 is "Sound the Trumpet."
This year marks the eighth year of the prayer campaign's existence which began in France through the efforts of the French organization Objectif France (www.objectiffrance.fr). Objectif France mobilizes Christians to pray for France during the days before Easter - organizing events and publishing a comprehensive prayer guide.
Pray for France is a coalition of five non-profit organizations in three countries - Objectif France (FR), United Prayer for France (SA), Sentinelle de Prière (FR), L'Appel (FR), and the Christian Community Foundation of France (US) - that are dedicated to mobilizing prayer for France.
