WASHINGTON, May 23 /Christian Newswire/ -- Key Obama advisor shares it is not the goal of the White House "...to reduce the number of abortions."
 
Melody Barnes, Director of the Domestic Policy Council for President Obama made that statement on Friday, May 15, during a meeting at the White House with key pro-life and pro-choice leaders.
 
The view of Ms. Barnes reflects the position of President Obama who has never publicly stated the goal of his Administration is to "reduce the number of abortions."
 
Rather at a recent Notre Dame Speech, the President said, "...let's work together to reduce the number of women seeking abortions by reducing unintended pregnancies."
 
The most obvious question that must be asked, why is President Obama and the White House afraid to say they want to reduce the number of abortions?
 
Unlike other public officials in his Administration, Mr. Obama has never shared his views on whether he believes abortion is a negative or a tragic choice for women.
 
In fact, President Obama has never voiced any negative public concerns about abortion and its impact on women.
 
Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, states, 
 
"There is only one reasonable conclusion that the American public can glean from the Obama position on abortion, and that is, President Obama will not say he wants to reduce the number of abortions because he does not believe abortion is something negative or a tragic violation of human rights and social justice.
 
"During this national conversation on abortion, it is imperative that President Obama let us know how he feels.  Right now, we simply do not know.
 
"Does he want to reduce abortions?
 
"Does he feel abortion is a tragic choice for women as the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton does?
 
"Or does he believe, as his silence indicates, that abortion must be protected and never condemned or reduced?
 
"President Obama's comments that he only wants to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and not abortions really says nothing about how he views abortion.

"Because he has refused to condemn abortion, one can infer he believes it may be a positive option. 
 
"Now is the time for the President to be straight with the American people and tell us does your Administration want to reduce abortions?  And, do you believe abortion is something negative and a tragic choice for women?
