HAMPTON, Va., Nov. 13, 2019 /
Christian Newswire/ -- Today, International Cooperating Ministries (ICM) announces the passing of its beloved founder, Dois Irvin Rosser, Jr. Rosser was a servant of Jesus Christ whose vision of empowering indigenous Christians worldwide sparked an incredible ministry that now spans over half the world's countries. He departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, at age 98.
Rosser began his legacy as an entrepreneur who founded the Pomoco Auto Group in Hampton Roads. In the 1970s, he began seeking a way he could further God's Kingdom as a successful businessman. He served on the boards of Trans World Radio, Prison Fellowship, and Leighton Ford Ministries. Then, he discovered a clear, compelling survey of the Bible called The Mini Bible College (MBC), written by Virginia church planter Dick Woodward. Rosser knew there was a tremendous need for such materials among oral learners in developing countries. So in 1986, at age 65, he poured his personal wealth into creating ICM to translate and distribute MBC around the world. When he later saw Christians in India meeting for worship under a tree, he began raising funds to supply them with permanent church buildings as well.
Today, ICM has more than 8,700 churches around the world, plus Bible study materials in 56 languages. The organization is currently on track to reach its goal of 10,000 churches and 60 languages by the end of 2020 and is looking forward to accelerated growth in the coming years. Though he is now in the presence of his Savior, Rosser's passion, leadership, and love for God and others will continue to reach thousands for Christ all across the globe.
