Christian Newswire/ -- Christian volunteers from 15 nations gathered in Guatemala this past summer for a huge evangelistic outreach focused on children. Serving with Child Evangelism Fellowship® (CEF®), the group split into 24 teams and worked alongside 72 churches. They reached over 47,000 children with the message of Jesus Christ. More than 21,000 children trusted in Jesus as Savior! Beyond that, 866 teachers from the local churches received training, and 38 weekly Bible clubs, called Good News Club®, began!
Additionally, a conference and workshops for teachers, pastors, leaders, and parents took place in Guatemala City. The missionary project stretched to 14 departments (states) of the republic.
Regional Director Abner Pineda said, "After the project, participants had a day of tourism before returning to their countries. While some were waiting for the rest of the group at the meeting point, there was a group of about ten children playing soccer. The ball kept hitting the group that was waiting. On the third time, the group held on to the ball and invited the children to hear a story. They eagerly agreed and three trusted in Christ! We praise God that, even on the participants 'day off,' children were won to the Lord!"
