Grand Rapids Filmmaker Brings Christian Film Conference to West Michigan
Contact: Josiah Swanson, GloryReelz, 231-981-2675

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., May 20, 2016 /Christian Newswire/ -- Named earlier this year as new Director of Operations for GloryReelz Christian Film Festival and Writer's Lab, award winning filmmaker and owner of WhiteShore Films, Josiah Swanson, brings festival themed: Light the Way! to West Michigan.

In a bevy of film festivals GRCFF is Michigan's only film festival and conference dedicated to educating and inspiring media makers across the country on filmmaking techniques and writing skills with a focus on Christian and faith-based trends. GRCFF engages attendees with workshops, panel discussions, an awards ceremony, networking opportunities and shows several films ranging from Christian and faith-based to dramatic, adventure, musical and educational.

The conference is an opportunity for attendees to hone their skills, collaborate and learn the process from beginning to end. Festivities also include a youth competition and films the whole family can enjoy. "The festival is typically held in Southeast Michigan but we all agreed it was time to expand starting with the West," stated Al Brooks, festival co-founder, "Grand Rapids has a large community of art and media supporters and is home to Mr. Swanson and his family. In addition to his wealth of knowledge and skills he has a heart to serve." The festival has been blessed to have impactful speakers from Michigan such as; filmmaker Aaron Burns (Beyond the Mask), Hollywood screenwriter Stan Williams (The Moral Premise), Dick Rolfe (Dove Foundation), and Atlanta based acclaimed author and speaker Cec Murphey (Gifted Hands The Ben Carson Story).

Venue Sponsor Crossroads Conference and Banquet Center is excited about the festival as well and is helping pull out all the stops with GRCFF's theme this year: Light the Way! The conference is open to all and encourages area churches and youth to get involved with sharing the gospel while affecting change in today's media. For the youth it is an opportunity to learn about various careers in media such as screenwriting, journalism, all aspects of filmmaking, production managing, lighting, make-up, costume and set design as well as acting for camera and on stage. We want to make an impact on the video games, Internet content and movies we see on television and screen; right now this is the way.

GRCFF will be held Saturday June 11, 2016 at 9am. Contact us or visit: gloryreelz.com for additional information.
