WASHINGTON, April 24 /Christian Newswire/ -- President Bush has asked participants in the 56th Annual National Day of Prayer to remember the victims of the Virginia Tech tragedy and pray for their families and loved ones. America's youth are being called to a "student reunion" that will unite them in prayer for the nation.
From 7:00PM until 9:00PM on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, young people will gather on the West Lawn of the U. S. Capitol to offer quiet, reflective prayer while God's Holy Word is read aloud during the U. S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon.
In II Chronicles 7:14, God tells us, "If My people, which are called by My Name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face . . . then I will . . . heal their land."
The Virginia Tech shootings have wounded the soul of our nation and taken a toll on its youth. The students that come to pray will ask for healing for our country and hope for the future. These leaders of tomorrow will call upon God to give them the guidance, wisdom and courage with which to face the challenges that lay ahead.
