HOUSTON, and NEW YORK, March 28, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- John Michael Talbot is a man who wears many ministerial hats from Contemporary Christian Music pioneer and respected author to Spiritual Father and General Minister of the Brothers and Sisters of Charity. When a fire devastated John Michael's monastery in April 2008, Talbot began a new format of itinerant ministry traveling from parish to parish to raise money to rebuild his community's home. It soon became clear that God was not only using his ministry to rebuild the monastery but to bring fulfillment to a vision he had early in his ministry.
Talbot shares, "God gave me a vision of itinerant ministry going from parish to parish in a time of great need in our culture. I believe that our current ministry is fulfilling that vision. God gave me a word that the Church has nearly died but He is going to heal and raise her to new life again."
Talbot now adds "Motivational Minister" to his many titles, traveling over nine months per year throughout the world renewing the faith of Christians of all denominations through sacred music, inspired teaching and motivational/inspirational speaking. It is this new direction which Talbot hopes to capture this week in a new DVD collection.
"Most of my events are three day missions which cover many topics including my personal testimony, Christian Meditation and Breath Prayer, the history and application of the Jesus Prayer, a walk-thru the Liturgy and, of course, MUSIC!" Talbot continued, "I receive requests after every event for a copy of the ministry I just presented, and this project is my response to those requests. My prayer is God will use this DVD collection to reach many more than I can in my travels!"
Talbot chose a special setting to document his new ministry direction -- the Lanier Theological Library and Stone Chapel in Houston, Texas. "Mark Lanier has become one of my great friends and supporters of my ministry. In that friendship I helped him to conceive the Stone Chapel which was the first building of the Lanier Theological complex. It's become a base for my ministry in the Houston area."
Production responsibilities have gone to Stage Directions of Houston, Texas. Talbot adds, "We are looking for a cinema quality to the DVDs and pray this collection will find a home on Christian television networks across the country." The planned three DVD collection has a target release of early 2013.
John Michael Talbot, like a modern St. Francis, is rebuilding God's Church "one parish at a time, and renewing the people of God one heart at a time."
