Dr. DeForest B. Soaries, Jr. to Host COVID-19 Virtual Parent Support Event

Christian Newswire/ -- Dr. DeForest B. Soaries, Jr., Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens (FBCLG) in Somerset, New Jersey, is hosting a special webinar, Someone Come Get These Kids!, on Sunday, April 19, 2020, at 7:30 p.m. via the Go to Meeting Platform (link provided below). The event will offer encouragement and support for parents that are responsible for providing education for their children while home due to COVID-19. The New Jersey Commissioner of Education, Dr. Lamont Repollet, will open up the event followed by a panel discussion of parents who will speak to some of their greatest challenges, success stories, most helpful resources and more.
During this pandemic, Dr. Soaries has come up with different strategies and the theme, "The Church is Open – The Building is Closed," to keep FBCLG members and the community engaged at this time. He hosts a list of virtual events that include an Online Sunday Worship Experience and a thought-provoking Bible Study. While he sees a great need for those events, he recognizes the need to assist parents who are currently struggling with the balance of work-life, child care and personal care.
"School closures have created a crisis for parents that is unimaginable and receiving too little attention," said Dr. Soaries. "I want to offer information and encouragement to parents that are juggling work and kids all day in the same house. My goal is to have parents share strategies, resources, and encouragement with other parents. I am honored to be joined by Lamont Repollet, New Jersey Commissioner of Education."
