WASHINGTON, March 15 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Christian Defense Coalition will leave roses on Sunday, March 16, at 4:00 P.M. at the Chinese Embassy located at 2300 Connecticut Ave. NW in Washington, D.C.
The Christian Defense Coalition calls upon the Bush Administration to act quickly in addressing the human rights abuses in Tibet and asks them to consider boycotting the Olympics this summer if the violence continues and also asks the faith community in America to pray diligently for the oppressed in China.
For over 16 years the Christian Defense Coalition has been an advocate for the oppressed in China and has passionately spoken out against religious persecution, human rights violations and forced abortion in that country.
Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, comments, "The free nations of the world must passionately and clearly speak out against the violence and tyranny by the Chinese government against the people of Tibet. We call upon the Bush Administration to quickly address these tragic human rights abuses and bring pressure upon the Chinese government to end the killing. We will also be asking, if the violence continues, for the United States to consider boycotting the Beijing Olympics this summer.
We will be laying roses at the Chinese Embassy on Sunday to honor and remember those who have been brutally killed over the past several days and to pray for peace and justice in that country. We will be fasting all of Holy Week asking God to intervene for the crisis in Tibet. We will also be praying for religious freedom throughout China and standing in solidarity for all of those who have been brutalized because of their faith. We will also be asking God to bring an end to the forced abortion policy in China.
The Christian Defense Coalition also asks the Christian community in America to remember their brothers and sisters who are being persecuted for their faith and for all the people of China to enjoy religious freedom without tyranny and oppression."
