Over Half of Red Kettle Christmas Campaigns Throughout the Western Pennsylvania Division of the Salvation Army Lagging Behind

Christian Newswire/ -- While some locations within the 28 counties of Western PA Division of The Salvation Army got off to a good start with their Red Kettle Christmas Campaign, 24 of the 39 Worship and Service Centers are lagging behind as compared with the same period last year. Allegheny County is more than $37,500 off pace. Areas struggling the most include Pittsburgh's Westside, Steel Valley and Allegheny Valley centers.
"We thank God for the generosity of the donors who have already given to The Salvation Army. We are hopeful that many more will come along side of us in helping our neighbors in need this holiday season and beyond," said Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army's Western Pennsylvania Division, Major William H. Bode. "It's important for people to realize when they give to a kettle in their community, the money stays there to help area residents."
As more and more people are shopping online and may not be near those familiar Red Kettles as much, the public is reminded they can also donate online at
www.onlineRedKettle.org. Monies will be directed to a Salvation Army location based on the donor's zip code, or to a specific area they choose. Those who want to help even more can set up their own Online Red Kettle and ask for donations from their family and friends. Corporations, clubs, service organizations, and school classrooms are all being encouraged to set-up their own online kettles.
