WASHINGTON, Sept. 17 /Christian Newswire/ -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) expressed optimism that the nomination of Michael Mukasey for Attorney General could bring civility and focus back to the U.S. Senate and Senate Judiciary Committee.
"Each nominee handled by the Senate Judiciary Committee deserves a fair and swift hearing," stated Wendy Wright, President of CWA. "The record indicates that Michael Mukasey comported himself honorably as a judge. We look forward to learning, through his hearing, of his commitment to enthusiastically enforcing obscenity laws, the newly-upheld law against partial-birth abortion, and initiatives against trafficking in persons."
"CWA wants an Attorney General who will vigorously support the initiative against domestic trafficking and give it highest priority by prosecuting the criminals involved in the multi-billion dollar sex slavery industry," stated Dr. Janice Crouse
President Bush announced the nomination of Michael Mukasey for Attorney General today. President Reagan appointed Judge Mukasey to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in 1987. He presided over some of the most complicated terrorism related cases.
