MORRISTOWN,, N.J., Feb. 21, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Liquid Church, one of New Jersey's fastest growing churches, is making the connection between the subject of chart-topping pop music and what the Bible says about the relationship between God and humanity.
The church is setting out to teach that the same "scars of love" which contemporary artists are struggling with in their lyrics echoes a story line from the Bible. The church's message series "Pop God," illustrates how the story of the prophet Hosea, a cheating wife and God point to a very different outcome.
"The story lines of Foo Fighters, Bruno Mars, Cee-Lo and Adele express similar burdens many people walking into church are facing in various areas of their life. We could learn a lot from the love story God's telling that is relevant today" said Tim Lucas, Liquid Church lead pastor.
The four-week series connects pop song compositions to the love story told in the Old Testament. The following artists and songs will be featured during February and March services being delivered at Liquid Church's New Jersey campuses in Morristown, New Brunswick and Nutley:
- Bruno Mars - "Just The Way You Are"
- Foo Fighters - "Walk Again"
- Cee-Lo - "Forget You"
- Adele - "Rolling In The Deep"
Videos of sermons from the Pop God series can be viewed at www.liquidchurch.com/popgod.
"The best part about telling this version of the love story is that people can know God has a heart which always offers grace and reconciliation. Our lives might be filled with betrayal and despair but with Him, it definitely ends with hope," added Lucas.
