AKRON, Ohio, May 15, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Maude Aimee Humbard, wife of the late broadcasting pioneer and the world's first Televangelist Rex Humbard made her final journey home to be with the Lord, yesterday, May 14 at 2 p.m. EST.

Maude Aimee Humbard was truly a child of God and dedicated to His service throughout her entire life. She served faithfully by the side of her husband, as the original Humbard Family traveled across the United States and Canada during the 1930s and 1940s in Gospel Tent Crusades.

In 1954, Maude Aimee and Rex Humbard settled in the city of Akron, Ohio where they built the Cathedral of Tomorrow in 1958. From the Cathedral, they began their television and radio ministry that continued for more than 37 years. Programs from the Cathedral of Tomorrow went out to more than 2,000 television stations around the world in 77 different languages.

Maude Aimee was a vital part of this outreach for Christ. Her anointed gift of song and ministry touched the lives of countless thousands around the world. In addition, God gave her a gift to personally help those in need; feeding, clothing and serving lost and searching souls. She was truly a servant of Christ and His work here on earth.

Maude Aimee was born in Dallas, Texas on May 22, 1922, the daughter of Maude Jones and her husband Charles Henry. She married her childhood sweet heart and partner in life, Rex on August 2, 1942.

She is survived by her four children, Rex Jr. and wife Suzy; Don and wife Sue; Elizabeth and husband Dan; Charles and wife Jennifer; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Maude Aimee will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Rex, in Akron, Ohio at Rose Hill Cemetery.
