PHILADELPHIA, September 29 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dan Celia, national radio host of Financial Issues Live, author and Executive Director of The Regency Foundation has some rational, common sense answers that are not being voiced when it comes to the financial system bailout bill that leading lawmakers fashioned over the weekend and which President Bush urged Congress to pass this morning.
Celia commented, "The Democrats can say what they want, but the best thing that Senator McCain could have done is to take some time to think through the decisions concerning the bailout. Not including ACORN, not directing funds for executive compensation, addressing the 'golden parachute' – these were all issues that had to be dealt with and McCain made excellent decisions in these areas and others.
"I wish The American public would be as outraged over sending $500 billion overseas for foreign oil, as we are about this $700 billion that is going to stay in our own economy. I think there should be some consolation in the fact that taxpayers will either profit from this rescue or get their money back and that this will not all be on the backs of the taxpayers. History has shown that the housing industry always comes back and it will this time. There will be value to the mortgage securities that the government owns, in time."
During Friday night's debate, when Obama mentioned that his plan would be growing the economy from the bottom up, Celia stated that he was not aware of any time in history when the economy has been stimulated by this method. Celia stated, "You and I might buy a new car and some new clothes, but that the fact of the matter is that the 5% of the taxpayers that Obama wants to penalize with heavy tax burdens are actually the only group that can really stimulate the economy."
Mr. Celia hosts the Financial Issues Live national radio show--an educational ministry and also the daily radio feature, Stewardship Moment, a biblical look at stewardship, also heard on Christian radio stations nationwide. Dan has authored books on stewardship and financial issues with two more books to be released this year.
