FOREST, Va., Oct. 13, 2016 /Christian Newswire/ -- Sunday, Oct. 9, international humanitarian organization World Help concluded its 25th Anniversary Global Impact Summit, held in Nashville, Tennessee, and the celebration of its historic silver anniversary. For the past 25 years, World Help, founded by Vernon Brewer, has impacted the lives of more than 70 million people in 76 countries.

"Gratitude — that's the only word that comes to mind when I think of the past two-and-a-half decades of my life," said Brewer. "I'm so grateful for the incredible blessing that World Help has been. Not only have we had the opportunity to meet the physical needs of tens of millions through our aid programs, we have also had the privilege of touching the hearts of people searching for hope, and that cannot be quantified."

Since inception, World Help has delivered $150 million worth of humanitarian aid, facilitated more than 53,000 child sponsorships, planted 75,261 churches, and distributed almost 10 million Bibles. Through its community development and child rescue programs, World Help has also completed 782 clean-water projects, constructed over 1,300 church buildings, and rescued more than 2,000 children suffering from malnutrition.

"Through the incredible generosity of our supporters and friends, we have been able to deliver physical help and spiritual hope to many men, women, and children across the world. We have truly been able to save millions of lives," Brewer added.

A group of invited guests, friends and partners attended the Global Impact Summit. Brewer and Noel Yeatts, vice president of World Help, hosted the event, and New York Times' best-selling author Bob Goff served as the keynote speaker. Special guests included Gabe Lyons, founder of Q, and Christian singer and songwriter Jed Bayes. At the summit, World Help gave particular attention to its efforts in Iraq and Syria, to new development programs in Thailand and India, and to immediate, emergency response to the catastrophic effect of Hurricane Matthew in Haiti and Cuba.

As part of the anniversary celebration, Brewer also released his newest book, "Defining Moments." The book is a recollection of the most powerful stories from Brewer's life and travels. It follows Brewer from country to country as he and World Help, through the countless people they have worked with, encountered the defining moments that have marked the ministry's remarkable story.

As a leading Christian humanitarian organization, World Help continues to innovate its approach, connecting donors to the needs of people in the most vulnerable places on the planet. In the coming weeks, World Help will launch a new website with careful focus on the user experience of supporters. This innovative digital platform will allow increased reporting and timely program updates in addition to making charitable giving easier than ever. The new site will include interactive maps, friction-free giving, and an in-depth donor portal.

"The past 25 years have been incredible — at times even impossible — but we are already looking at the next 25 years and at what God has in store for us," said Yeatts. "There's still a lot of work left to do and so much we still want to accomplish. It actually feels like we are just getting started."
