WASHINGTON, April 15 /Christian Newswire/ -- Today is the deadline to file federal taxes with the Internal Revenue Service, and Americans can expect to send more of their tax dollars to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood than they did at this time last year.
"Despite his promises to find 'common ground' on abortion, President Obama's policy decisions are already impacting and alienating American taxpayers," said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. "What a difference a year makes. Thanks to President Obama, taxpayers are now subsidizing abortion providers like the Planned Parenthood Federation and Marie Stopes International, who will promote abortion overseas. And thanks to the abortion-friendly leadership in Congress, domestic taxpayer funding for the nation's number-one abortion provider is on the rise. Planned Parenthood funding is up, even as they post over one billion dollars in revenue and a profit of eighty-five million dollars."
"Clearly, votes at the ballot box and on Capitol Hill have consequences. More of today's taxpayers are recognizing that their hard-earned dollars are going toward a hefty abortion bailout. Already this year tens of thousands of Americans have asked Congress to respect the consciences of taxpayers and stop the abortion bailout. As Congress begins the new appropriations process, it would do well to heed the voices of constituents and stop the flow of taxpayer dollars to the abortion industry. Common sense dictates one truism: we won't find reductions in abortion as long as we continue to subsidize and promote it at taxpayers' expense. The Obama administration's promise to find ways to reduce abortion numbers rings hollow in such an environment."
The Susan B. Anthony List's Stop the Abortion Bailout! Campaign (www.stoptheabortionbailout.com), has sent over 72,000 letters to the U.S. Senate advocating for the preservation of federal abortion funding restrictions. The campaign's goal is to secure the 41 votes necessary to sustain a filibuster against measures promoting federal taxpayer funding of abortion.
Earlier this year, a USA Today/Gallup poll asked Americans to say whether they approve or disapprove of seven specific actions Obama has taken as president. Of the seven actions, Obama's decision to repeal the pro-life Mexico City Policy and allow taxpayer funding for overseas abortion providers garnered the highest disapproval ratings at 58%. The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of Americans, over 156,000 residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
