MEDIA ADVISORY, Feb. 19 /Christian Newswire/ -- On February 4, 2007 First Lady of Burundi, Janet Nkurunziza, representing her husband, President Pierre Nkurunziza, attended an evangelistic festival in Gitega, Burundi sponsored by Eternity Minded Ministries with Dan Owens. During the festival, the First Lady publicly extended her appreciation to EMM for their efforts in ministering to Gitega and for building a Christian school in the area.
Eternity Minded Ministries, a faith-based non-profit organization, has been provided a plot of land in Gitega, Burundi, Africa by the Burundi Government with provisions that the land is used to build a school. Gitega is a nation shattered by civil war, and demonic activities. As a result of the civil unrest, schools were destroyed leaving many children without a school to attend. The few children that have a school to attend are sharing small classrooms with 80-90 students per room.
Partnering with local churches in Gitega, EMM is building a school that will hold up to 250 students. Construction is scheduled to be completed before Fall of 2007 when classes will commence. The Burundi government will be providing funding for teacher salaries and supplies required to keep the school operational.
Dan Owens, evangelist, founder and president of Eternity Minded Ministries says, “My heart goes out to the people of Gitega. We are honored to be able to reach out to the children by providing them with a safe and loving environment to learn.” Owens continues by saying, “Not only will these children receive a great education; but it is our prayer that they will be grounded in the Word and become followers of Jesus.”
Eternity Minded Ministries is raising funds to cover the construction expenses of the school and future ministries in Burundi. EMM is not a stranger to Africa. The organization has been ministering in Uganda and Kenya Africa since 2004, and is now expanding their footprints of ministry to Burundi. Dan Owens and his ministry team developed and practice a ministry model based on a holistic approach by providing humanitarian aid, proclaiming the gospel through festivals and events designed to reach the unsaved, discipleship training, pastoral training, and church planting. The EMM ministry team recently returned from their first scheduled ministry trip to Gitega where over 5,000 people responded to the gospel message and received Christ as their personal savior. A festival report will be released soon. Dan Owens shares “It is exciting to see how the Lord is transforming this land of genocide by replacing hatred and killing with spiritual healing and education. Praise His Holy Name!”
