FOREST, Va., May 12, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- The final Extraordinary Women "Everlasting Hope" conference of the spring will be held at BJCC Arena in Birmingham, AL, this Friday and Saturday, May 13-14, 2011 (ewomen.net/conference/2011-05-13/bjcc-arena). A special offering for the tornado relief efforts will be taken as part of this weekend's program.

In addition to the conference, EWomen, along with our partner, the American Association of Christian Counselors (www.AACC.net), is working with professional counselors and pastors in the region to provide crisis response and trauma care training for individuals, families and leaders. We often hear that after initial relief efforts, many are left on their own to deal with the ongoing effects of a tragedy. The training is FREE to all, but you must register. The pre-conference workshop will be held on Friday, May 13th at the Birmingham Sheraton hotel. Michele Louviere, LMFT, will be hosting the workshop titled, Trauma and Your Response, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and again from 1:00-3:00 p.m.

After the EWomen conference this weekend, Third Day will be hosting the "Make Your Move Tornado Relief Benefit" (makeyourmovebenefit.com). The concert will be on Sunday, May 15th at 6:00 p.m. at the BJCC Arena. EWomen is one of the sponsors of the benefit. The offering that is received at the EWomen conference on Saturday will be added to the funds raised by this concert. Additionally, several of our EW team will be staying in Birmingham working alongside the other benefit sponsors and planners to help make this a great time of ministry and encouragement.

The entire EW team has been working hard preparing for the conference this weekend and we are praying daily for all that will take place. Just recently, EW was in Johnson City, TN, and saw firsthand the destruction and devastation across the Tri-Cities area. Through the offering in Johnson City, we were able to donate more than $11,000 to the Salvation Army in the two hardest hit counties in Eastern Tennessee and Western Virginia.

"We know that it is no accident that God has us in these two areas that were devastated by the tornadoes on the last two weekends of our spring tour," said EW President, Julie Clinton. "Every day we are hearing stories of those whose lives have forever changed as a result of the recent tragedy and truly need to be reminded of the 'Everlasting Hope' that we have in God."

You have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress,
a refuge from the storm..." (Isaiah 25:4, KJV).
