PHILADELPHIA, May 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- Puchi Colón, the New Jersey-grown Christian Salsa sensation, has released a new Spanish-language album titled, "Que No Pare."
The 12-track CD is produced by Jovi Music Group, an independent record label owned by Colón and his manager/wife, JoAnn.
Colón and his nine-piece band will debut the CD at 5 p.m., Sunday, May 16, 2010 in a live concert at The Firehouse Café, located at 20 Washington Street, Mt. Holly, N.J. Tickets are $15 per person and include a copy of the CD.
Inspired by a year fraught with financial setbacks and emotional turmoil, "Que No Pare" (which means "Don't Stop the Praise") is Colón's personal testimony set to music to encourage others to hold on to their faith in the midst of adversity.
"Each one of the songs hits something that happened in our lives this past year," said Colón, who left his comfort zone in the Jersey area last year for a job at a church in West Palm Beach, FL. Soon, the Colóns fell on hard times when both Puchi and his wife lost their jobs in the middle of finalizing the recording project.
The songs on the CD, he said, "were waiting for everything in my life to happen, just so we could go out and minister to people with them. It's amazing."
The album features "Mil Razones," a duet Colón sings with '70s Salsa great and international Latin artist Bobby Cruz, who, along with longtime music partner, Richie Ray, pioneered "Christian Salsa" after giving their lives to Christ in 1974.
Colón says that "I've Realized," the one English-language track on the CD, holds a special place in his heart because it epitomizes his Christian faith and showcases performances by his four children: a rap solo by his 15-year-old son, Gabriel, and the angelic voices of his three younger boys--Mickael, Joel, and Samuel--who close out the tune singing the hook, "I've realized I cannot live without You."
Colón has been featured on TBN's Praise the Lord and Philadelphia Channel 6-ABC's Puerto Rican Panorama. "Que No Pare" is his eleventh album and the fifth produced by his own label. The upcoming tour includes stops in Bronx, N.Y. on June 11, Allentown, Pa., on June 12, and the world-famous Brooklyn Tabernacle on June 13. Tour dates in Florida, California, and Puerto Rico are coming soon!
