ENUMCLAW, Wash., Feb. 25 /Christian Newswire/ -- Kathleen Ann Marchant was a teen victim of a sexual attack which forced a pivotal change in her life path. A divorced mother who struggled with depression, exhaustion, anxiety and migraine headaches often times not understanding why. During those years she built a wall, a fortress around her heart for protection. Stone by stone she built this wall so that she would no longer be humiliated or hurt. "But," she says, "with the construction of this protection I had prevented myself from experiencing life as God intended it be experienced."

In her book "Fortress of the Heart", Marchant says she isn't alone, that most hurting people "automatically start gathering stones. Sadly, once a person starts collecting stones it isn't long before this becomes second nature to them." She tells how she overcame this habit and tore down the walls of self-protection that she had built, now living with boundaries (a fence) rather than a fortress.

Marchant, who now lives in Idaho with her husband and college-age daughter, takes readers through her own personal process where a joyful existence transpires by healing with forgiveness, praying always, and loving others. With an open heart to God and to others, now she is able to say, "I have taken root; I am surviving and living a happy, worthwhile and purposeful life. I am now where I am supposed to be. I am very comfortable and at peace."

She has a newsletter, "Woman to Woman", where she offers coffee talk conversation and also helps others who she says are "hiding behind there own fortress walls, in the dark, covered with dust, and lonely." "Fortress of the Heart" came about through the encouragement of many people who noticed a connection and familiar pattern between Marchant's shared writings and God's written words; written in simple language, easy to understand and apply to their lives. "My intent is that when people pick up the book, or turn a page; they will be captured by the beautiful photography and then be sparked to read the related story, poem or prayer, where they will feel loved and be encouraged to love others."
